ODOT seeks public comments on improvements slated for Oregon 99W at=20
Roosevelt Boulevard

Road, Eugene.WHY:=09Review proposed intersection improvements coming next year for=20
Oregon 99W at Roosevelt Boulevard.BACKGROUND:
The Oregon Department of Transportation plans to make $197,000 worth of=20
safety improvements in 2004 at the Oregon 99W and Roosevelt Road=20
intersection in west Eugene. The improvements may include:=20
=84h Extending the existing left-turn lane for northbound Oregon 99W=20
traffic.=20
=84h Adding a right-turn lane from northbound Oregon 99W to Roosevelt=20
Boulevard.=20
=84h Installing a congestion warning sign for northbound Oregon 99W=20
traffic.=20
=84h Removing visual barriers at the southeast corner so pedestrians can=20
see oncoming traffic better.=20
=84h Improving roadway signing, striping and traffic signal timing.=20
=84h Coordinating traffic signal updates with the city of Eugene.The open house will be both informal and informative. ODOT's project=20
team will answer questions and discuss the proposed improvements. No=20
formal presentation is planned, so feel free to drop in anytime between=20
4 p.m. and 7 p.m.=20ODOT's project team will recommend a final list of improvements after=20
collecting and analyzing traffic information, accident reports, public=20
comments and other information.Construction will begin early in 2004 and last about a month. Drivers=20
will face normal lane closures and short delays during construction.=20
