Bob Stacey, the new exectutive director of 1000 Friends of Oregon, will give the keynote speech at the Friends of Eugene (FoE) annual meeting in Eugene on Thursday, May 22. The event is free and open to all, with the public program starting at 7pm.

Bob Stacey is Executive Director of 1000 Friends of Oregon, a 28-year-old public interest group that advocates smart growth and countryside conservation through the effective implementation of the State's land use planning laws. The 1000 Friends of Oregon legal team represented Friends of Eugeneand other local petitioners in their recent successful challenge to the City of Eugene's approval of the West Eugene Parkway.

FoE President Kevin Matthews will open the public program with some highlights of FoE's busy year, and brief comments on future directions for Eugene's leading citizens group on land use, transportation, and livability issues.

The annual FoE organizational business meeting for voting (dues-paying) members, which will include election of board members to fill vacant seats, will start at 6pm.
